Testimonials
“When my son started taking private lessons with Jonathan, he couldn’t swim one length of the pool. Within a couple of weeks, however, he could swim several different strokes for much longer periods of time. My son joined the swim teach Jonathan coached, and he made significant improvements. Not only did his swimming get better and better, but he developed a genuine love of swimming, reflecting Jonathan’s contagious attitude. Jonathan has high expectations for his students, but he knows they can reach those expectations, and as they reach new milestones, his students gain confidence in themselves and respect for the coach who cares about them so much.”

“I am more than pleased to recommend Jonathan Burgess for a swim coach. Our family has known Jonathan for approximately 18 months, and during that time, he has demonstrated excellent skills both as a coach and mentor to our 3 children. When our boys, ages 10 and 8, began swimming on Jonathan’s team, their swimming skills were ok, but they were in need of a lot of instruction to better their skills. Jonathan provided everything they needed in order to show significant growth in their swimming abilities, both in practice and at meets. Our older son has improved in all of his strokes and cut many seconds off his times in every event. He initially lacked confidence as a swimmer, but with Jonathan’s supportive approach and ability to relate to him, he quickly improved and has gone on to do well for his age, earning many ribbons, medals, and occasional trophies. Our younger son could hardly swim a 50-free in a practice at age 6.5 when he started. Less than a year later, he took home a trophy for 14th place for 8 & under boys in Northern Colorado in a big team sponsored meet, and he swims countless laps at practice several nights a week. I attribute his success to Jonathan’s specific instructions and ability to build rapport with him and all of his other swimmers, who all look very favorably upon Jonathan. He not only taught his swimmers about how to be better at their strokes, but he also taught them discipline, in general. Our boys learned to be better listeners and more self-motivated in all areas of their lives because of Jonathan’s efforts. Jonathan also worked with our daughter, who was 4 years old at the time, during private lessons. She adores Jonathan and hopes to have the opportunity again. His approach with her was almost magical in the way he communicated with her and taught her to be a stronger swimmer.
Jonathan is also great at communicating with parents. I emailed Jonathan many times with questions about various things related to our boys and swimming, and he always replied promptly and courteously. He is also very approachable on deck and makes parents feel welcome. I know most of the parents of swimmers, and I can say with confidence that all of them truly valued Jonathan as a coach.
While I am sure Jonathan would work extremely well with swimmers of any age, he seems truly gifted in interacting with younger and beginning swimmers because of his kindness and ability to relate to those who may be just starting out in the sport. We recommend him without reservation.”
